Book sale breaks record

The Friends of the Guelph Public Library’s eighth annual used book sale returned $90,000 after expenses – the best sale yet.

Around 78,000 items were donated and 80 per cent were sold. Remaining items were gifted to charities and book re-sellers. Most of the revenue will go toward the new main library building, bringing total investment to over $300,000.

Organizers thanked the WCDSB for making the sale site available rent-free, as well as volunteers and the record-breaking number of book lovers (7,221) who came out to shop and have fun.
