When it comes to tossing cabers, the world record holder is now in Scotland.
Over 160 throwers from 14 countries took part on Sept. 14 in a successful world record attempt at Bught Park, Inverness for the most people tossing cabers simultaneously.
This summer local organizers of the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games seemed confident the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous caber toss would stand at 52.
Roughly a month later, that number jumped to 66.
A recent letter to the Wellington Advertiser brought to light that the newest record for simultaneous caber tossing was set by the Highland Council at the conclusion of the Masters World Championships on Sept. 14.
Inverness events manager Gerry Reynolds stated, “We successfully launched 66 out of 106 thrown.
“We had the Guinness adjudicator present on site and our record has been officially recognized.”
Inverness Highland Games committee chairman Angus Dick added, “If Guinness tell us that our friends at the Fergus Highland Games have officially beaten our record of 66 sometime in the future – trust me, we will be the first in the queue to congratulate them.”
Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games officials state at this time they “do not have a comment on future plans.”
