Officials are inviting everyone to come celebrate the 178th annual Fergus Fall Fair.
Events actually kickoff this weekend with a barbecue and the Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador competition on Sept. 7 at 6pm.
On Sept. 11 the midway opens from 7 to 9pm as exhibits are received in the hall from 7 to 8:30pm. Exhibits will be received the next day from 8:30 to 11:30am.
Sept. 12 marks the chili cook-off starting at 5pm with the tractor pulls at 6:30pm.
Sept. 13 is the lucky day for spectators and participants, starting early in the morning with the light horse show (hunter, jumper) at 9am and the 4-H beef and dairy cattle shows starting at 10:30am.
A garden tractor pull begins at 10:30am and more beef and dairy cattle shows begin at 1pm. The obstacle challenge for the light horse show is at 1pm and the mini-modified and truck pulls begin at 6pm.
Sept. 14 begins with a hearty pancake breakfast at 8:30am in the pavilion behind the Sportsplex. A heavy horse show starts at 9:30am and the antique and classic car show runs from 10am to 3pm.
A sheep show begins at 11am and the annual pony/dog run begins at 11:30am. Both the goat show and baby show start at noon, as does as the family cookie decorating.
The Western games horse show begins at 12:30pm. New for this year are the mini chuckwagon races at 12:30, 2 and 4pm. The children’s pedal pull is at 1pm.
And on both Saturday and Sunday spectators will be treated to shows by the Craz-E Crew BMX stunt team, the Diamonds in the Ruff Dog Show and sheep herding demos.
Exhibits are to be removed from the hall and sheds between 5:30 and 6pm.
