4-H updates from around the region

Triple Trio Spice Club

CONN – The spice club met for its fourth meeting at Flowers to Fragrance Lavender Farm.

Nick Morris had arranged for members to tour the farm with a scavenger hunt. We got to compare lavender plants at various stages of growth and see an oil extractor.  We drank lemon and mint water and ate lavender ice cream sandwiches. We all got to take home a lavender plant for our own gardens.

 Triple Trio Potato Club

CONN – The third and fourth meetings of the Potato Club were held at the home of Catherine Gorman.

We checked on our potatoes in the garden, added another tire and soil to our tire tier and weeded our potatoes. We talked about the history of potato production and about the different varieties of potatoes. We sprayed our potatoes with garlic spray (that we made at spice 4-H) to ward off potato bugs.

We ended our meeting eating the potato candy, potato coins and potato chips we had made.
