Fair set with full slate of activities

It’s the start of the ever-popular fall season and the local fair is set for an early start with the Ambassador of the Fair dinner and competition on Aug. 23 – a full week before the main fair takes place.

The ambassador competition will start at 6pm at Victory Church in the community hall adjacent to the Agricultural Fair Grounds.

The full fair gets underway on Aug. 30 with the placing and judging of exhibits starting at 8am. The exhibit portion is closed to the public with re-opening of the exhibit hall set for 4:30pm.

The full fair competitions open up on Aug. 31 with the Western Horse Show set for 9:30 am. The day will also see special exhibits, including a falconry demonstration, sheep herding demonstration, pedal tractor pull, baby show, children’s pet show and stilts race.

On the holiday Monday, Sept. 1, events include the R&R pet parade and dog sport competition and the invitational horse pull at 3pm.

The theme of this year’s fair is “Sew it, Grow it, Show it.”
