Ploughing Ahead is the theme of the 135th annual Palmerston Fair, which officially gets underway on Aug. 20 with the opening and ambassador competition at 7:30pm.
Exhibits may be placed in the hall between 8:30 and 11am on Aug. 22 and things really get rolling with the parade that evening at 6:30pm, followed by the popular Taste of Minto event at the community centre.
A quilt show will be on display all weekend.
Saturday’s events start with a farmer’s breakfast at 8am and include a pet show, antique tractor ploughing and a Birds of Prey show.
New events this year include a Monster Machines display and a corn maze.
The auction of champions is set for Saturday at 3pm and a corn roast, including a corn on the cob eating contest, will begin at 5pm. Saturday evening features at teen dance hosted by the Palmerston Skating Club.
Sunday’s schedule includes a community church service, helicopter rides, bingo and a roast beef dinner.
