Two deaths on roads over long weekend

The OPP preliminary report indicates that two people died on OPP-patrolled roads over the Victoria Day Long Weekend.

One man died in eastern Ontario when the farm tractor he was driving failed to negotiate a turn on a township road.

Another man succumbed to his injuries following a single vehicle collision in northeastern Ontario.

With high volumes of traffic on roads and people taking advantage of outdoor recreational activities, the OPP remained highly visible right across the province and were pleased to see motorists, off-roaders and boaters do an excellent job of keeping themselves and those around them safe right through the weekend.

The OPP also took part in Canada Road Safety Week from May 13 to 19, focusing on education and enforcement of laws associated with impaired driving, seat belt use, distracted and aggressive driving.
