Town officials set to launch Launchit Minto

A grand opening of the LaunchIt Minto creative business incubator is set for June 14. Economic and business manager Belinda Wick-Graham reported to council on  May 20 that the opening has been timed to coincide with the Heritage Days celebration in Harriston.

The public grand opening will be held at the incubator’s 1 Elora Street location from 10am to 2pm with ceremonies scheduled for 11am.

Party funding

Minto council has approved a recommendation from the town’s economic development committee to contribute $2,000 to the Palmerston Lions Club’s Party in the Park on June 7.

The event, a joint effort with the Norgan Theatre board, also involves participation from the Minto Optimist Club Car Show and Palmerston Farmer’s Market. Funds will come from the Community Development Fund which annually grants $2,000 to local organizations which partner on creating new events in the community.

Façade improvement

Miller Insurance will receive a façade improvement grant of $3,000 from the town.

The project involves removing an existing awning, replacing windows, installing an automatic-opening door with a ramp for wheelchair access and other improvements.
