The Superstars Baton Club started off its 2014 competition season in Newmarket on Feb. 8.
Approximately 60 athletes attended this competition, the Miss Valentine Twirl, coming from Richmond Hill, Fergus, Kitchener, Arthur, Buffalo, Brampton and Mississauga.
Individual results are as follows:
– Mackenzie Fraser, age 7, of Arthur was 4th in her Novice Solo and placed 4th in Novice Valentine Pageant;
– Alyssa George, 10, of Fergus, 1st in Beginner 2Baton and Solo and Novice Strut, and 4th in Beginner Valentine Pageant;
– Hayleigh Homer, 11, of Fergus, 3rd in Novice 2Baton, 6th in Novice Solo and 2nd Novice Valentine pageant;
– Skylar Irwin, 11, of Arthur, 1st in Novice Solo, and 4th Valentine pageant;
– Audra Jander, 14, of Acton was 3rd in Beginner Rhythmic Twirl;
-Paige Johnston, 6, of Arthur, was 2nd in Novice Solo 2nd in Novice Valentine pageant;
– Melissa Ireland, 12, of Arthur, 7th in Novice Solo;
– Bailey Pinder, 17, of Mildmay, 2nd in Advance Strut and Rhythmic Twirl and 4th in the Valentine Cup;
– Elsie Post, 8, of Arthur, 1st in Beginner Solo, Beginner Basic March and Novice Strut. She won the Juv Beginner Valentine pageant;
– Lauren Robb, 14, of Fergus, 1st in Beginner 2 Baton, 5th in Beginner Strut and 6th in Beginner Solo;
– Madeline Schindler, 10, of Belwood, 3rd in Beginner Rhythmic Twirl, 5th in Beginner Basic March, 8th in Novice Solo and 3rd in Novice Valentine pageant; and
– Makenzie Worton, 12, of Fergus, 2nd in Novice Strut, 3rd in Beginner Solo, 4th in Novice 2 Baton and 4th Beginner Valentine pageant.
The duet team of Homer and Irwin won the Novice Duet division.
The twirlers are trained by Krista DiStasi of Fergus.
