According to the federal government’s Canadian Dairy Information Centre, there are 12,529 dairy farms with milk shipments in Canada.
The centre also states that those farms boast 960,600 dairy cows and 472,600 dairy heifers.
Quebec is the most prolific province in terms of dairy production, with just under 6,200 farms, over 356,400 cows and 165,000 heifers.
Ontario has almost 4,100 farms, just under 318,000 cows and over 170,000 heifers.
