COMMUNITY 6 – MISSIONARY 3
Community struck early in the first period. Trent Lutz caught Nick Stevens with a pass as he hit the blue line and Stevens went left, then wired a shot into the opposite corner.
Community added three goals in the second. Nick Stevens scored again with a high wrist shot.
Trent Lutz undressed the defence and slid the puck underneath the pads, and Joe Clemmer tucked in a goal as he drove to the net. Assists were earned by Josh Martin, Terry Horst (2), Delmer Frey and Cal Martin.
Missionary scored a pair in the middle period. Brandon Bults blasted a slap shot in and Paul Vandenberg flicked the puck into an open corner. Assists went to Steve Domitrovic and Scott Vandepas.
Community added two more to start the third. Josh Martin finished a scramble at the net to poke the puck through, and Terry Horst ripped in a hard wrist shot. Assists went to Rick Brubacher and Delmer Frey.
Missionary managed one final goal to end the game when Dave Scholten snapped a wrist shot through a crowd, assisted by Dave Arndt.
FLORADALE 4 – LISTOWEL 2
Although Floradale out shot Listowel 14-4 in the first period, they only had one goal to show for it. Ryan Weber and Willis Martin set up Andrew Martin with a late pass for a quick tip under the pads.
Listowel tied the game early in the second. Phil Shantz snapped the puck on net and Josh Shantz sent the rebound into the open corner.
Listowel stayed in the game to take the lead late in the period. Travis Kuepfer sent a pass to Mark Hockley to spring him loose for a two-on-one rush. A pass across the ice gave Curtis Wagler a shot into an open corner.
Floradale came back in the dying minute to tie the game. Dan Martin fed a pass to Tim Freeman, who snapped a shot to roll the puck up and over the goalie’s pads.
Floradale took the lead early in the third when Willis Martin and Tim Martin worked the puck deep to Ryan Weber, who knifed the puck into the near side corner for the winner.
Floradale added an insurance goal in the final minute of play. Brendan Jefferson snapped a shot on net and Mike Martin buried the rebound. Dan Martin also assisted.
DRAYTON 3 – BETHEL 3
The teams exchanged goals for a 1-1 tie after the first period. Eric Deckers tipped in a pass from Herman Mulder for the first goal, but Bethel tied the game in the final minute of the period when Brandon Wideman and Tim Bauman moved the puck around the net and Brock Shoemaker blasted a shot from the right side face-off circle.
The teams traded goals in the second as well. Bethel took the lead with a slap shot from the slot by Tim Bauman, assisted by Caleb Bauman.
Less than a minute later Drayton tied the game up again. Robyn Curry and Eric Deckers created a scramble at the net and Mark Timmerman snapped the puck home.
Bethel took the lead early in the third. Kyle Wellwood stepped into a loose puck and skated it to the net. He cut in front of the crease and tucked the puck underneath the pads.
Drayton rushed the net to tie the game one last time. Deckers took the puck to the net and drifted a pass to Timmerman for a tip-in.
