After three years of weekly meetings, numerous camps and weekend outings, Ryan Kielar, 12, has earned every one of the 50 badges, stars and awards available to Cub Scouts in Canada.
These badges include activities from first aid, to swimming to photography to emergency preparedness.
The last badge he earned was his Pack Specialty for letterboxing, an outdoor hobby that combines elements of orienteering, art, and puzzle solving.
As a member of the 1st Guelph St. James Cub Pack, Kielar enjoyed a full program.
Kielar is pleased to have earned all the badges and has really enjoyed his experiences as a Cub Scout.
“My favourite times were the weekends we spent at camp”, explains Kielar. “I especially enjoyed our camp at African Lion Safari and hearing the animals all night”.
Now a member of the Scout Troop, Kielar was presented with a crystal wolf-shaped memento to commemorate his achievement at a short ceremony recently.
At this same ceremony several other adult volunteers of the 1st Guelph St. James Scout Group were recognized for their outstanding service to Scouting.
These awards included three Medals of Good Service to Phil Woodhouse, Henry Kielar and Brian MacIsaac, and a Bar to the Medal of Good Service went to Jeff Hilborn.
