A Day of Caring in Wellington County

On Oct. 3, employees from the County of Wellington took part in a United Way Day of Caring™ with the Canadian Red Cross program, Meals on Wheels.

A United Way Day of Caring, is a program that sees teams of employees take time from their workday to volunteer at local charities.

For United Way, arranging a Day of Caring volunteer experience is a way to support local charities in addition to providing financial support.

The Meals on Wheels program provides nutritious meals delivered to the door of clients between 11am and 12:30pm, Monday to Friday.

This service also provides a daily check on the client’s wellbeing.

The Red Cross relies on over 100 volunteers to deliver this program, most donating both their time and the gas to deliver meals to homes.

United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin is funding the Meals on Wheels program with $12,000 in 2013.

The County of Wellington is a long-time supporter of United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin, raising over $45,000 in 2012.

The 2013 United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin campaign goal has been set at $3.4 million and runs until the end of November.

Donations are accepted at workplaces across Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin counties, and through the United Way office, 519-821-0571 or  online at www.unitedwayguelph.com.
