No objections were raised during a public meetingm here to extending the timeline of a garden suite at NRD Farms 9039 Wellington Road 124.
The proposed rezoning would extend the temporary use of a garden suite for another three years.
The subject site is zoned A-1 19, agricultural permitting the temporary second dwelling unit.
At an Oct. 1 public meeting, town planner Sally Stull explained the application before council sought public input on the extension of a temporary garden suite at 9039 Wellington Road 124.
Stull said a trailer has been on the site since 1990 and the current owner intends to continue to have it used as housing for farm help in accordance with the temporary use zoning.
She added there are no changes planned for the trailer or the site plan.
The site is designated as prime agriculture and the applicant recently constructed a large pig barn operation on the property “and I would assume he would need more help and would continue to need farm help at the site.”
No comments were made by the audience nor council on the matter.
Stull said that, potentially, a bylaw could be before council by its next meeting.
Councillors quipped that the public meeting may well have been one of the town’s shortest meetings.
Councillor Barb Tocher considered it a record – even for a public meeting.
Councillor John Brennan said there had been shorter, though he believed it may well have been the last time this issue came up three years ago.
However, the main portion of the meeting still went on beyond 10pm.
