There will be noise – but for a good cause.
On Sept. 18, councillors here approved a noise bylaw exemption for Highway 6 resurfacing from Highway 401 to Clair Road in Guelph.
In granting approval, Mayor Dennis Lever said the township had no objection to the milling of the existing pavement followed by repaving.
Traffic through the construction zone would be redirected to single lanes northbound and southbound at night.
The work is a progressive continuation suggesting that disturbance to residents would be minimized.
Noise from the project would include dump trucks, pavers, milling and rubber/steel rollers.
During this time, the MTO recommended the Brock Road interchange be used as the alternate route.
The work is expected to start on June 23, 2014 and be completed by Aug. 22, 2014.
The MTO is to provide advance notification to area property owners which abut Highway 6 near Highway 401.
