Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj describes the recent Fergus Scottish Festival as “a remarkable four days.”
She offered many thanks to all those involved in making the event happen.
“It was just positive and upbeat everywhere. There were so many people complimenting everything – from the turnout to the organization. I had an absolutely wonderful time for the four days.”
She added that there were numerous visitors to the community from far away.
“It was amazing the distances people travelled to get here to participate – not only in this festival, but the Elora Festival, Sensational Elora and all the activities going on.”
She said the festival’s guests from Scotland were just so overwhelmed and impressed with how the board and volunteers put on the show.
She noted that next year Scotland is celebrating Homecoming 2014 and representatives were in Fergus to see how this community staged a festival – and possibly get some ideas of what they would like to do in Scotland next year.
“It was our pleasure to have them here.”
