Fergus Pipe Band opens concert series

For the second season, the Wellington County Museum and Archives is hosting a series of four musical evenings on Thursday nights in August.

Officials say the eclectic range of performances will make for an interesting and beautiful experience on the grounds of the museum, which this summer are lush and colourful. All performances begin at 7pm and admission for this series is by donation.

The series opened with a performance by the Fergus Pipe Band on Aug. 1. Always enjoyable for all ages, the Pipe Band is pleased to have a practice event before the start of the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games.

The Aug. 15 concert will feature Lucas Rogerson and Friends. Rogerson is well known local singer/songwriter, who recently released his first debut solo album.

The third and fourth concerts in this year’s program feature brass and woodwind groups. On Aug. 22, the Grand River Brass will play a variety of music from popular tunes to memorable classical pieces.

The Venturi Winds join in  for the final concert of the summer on Aug. 29, again in the cottage garden.

In the event of inclement weather, the concerts will be held in the 1877 barn, with limited seating capacity.

Events are subject to change without notice, call ahead to confirm. For more information, contact Libby Walker, activity programmer at 519-846-0916 extension 5224 or libbyw@wcm.on.ca.
