Transition Erin offers free lunch May 4

Saturday, May 4 will be a busy day for volunteers throughout the community.

There is a major community tree planting, a Town-wide clean-up day, hazardous waste collection, tree giveaway, and more.

So where does one go after a busy day of community improvement?

To a free lunch and celebration, of course!

Transition Erin is inviting the public to attend a Lunch and Learn, starting at noon in the Shamrock Room of Centre 2000.

Members of Transition Erin will be serving up a hearty organic soup, fresh bread, and a guest speaker/author Mike Nickerson will speak about the Transition Town philosophy, the Sustainability Project that he champions, and thought-provoking insights on our future. Admission is free – donations will be graciously accepted.

The event is also being staged as an Introduction to Transition Erin.

This open community organization has been very active in the background of the town for the last 11 months – now it’s time to showcase some of the projects and achievements.  For example, prepare to be impressed and inspired by some stunning alternative development plans prepared by graduate Planning students from the University of Guelph for the lands in the northeast corner of the village of Erin.

Around 2pm, the group will be planting a special tree near the entrance to the EDHS library to celebrate Transition Erin recently being granted status by the international Transition Network as an Official Transition Town initiative.
