Anderson nominated for Ontario Sports Award

Fergus native Patrick Anderson is among the finalists for a 2012 Ontario Sport Award.

The awards celebrate the contributions of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and corporate sponsors who support amateur sport.

Anderson, widely regarded as one of the best wheelchair basketball players of all time, is one of three finalists for Male Athlete with a Disability of the Year. Also nominated in the category are Jason Dunkerley (athletics) and Garett Hickling (wheelchair rugby).

Anderson helped Canada capture gold in wheelchair basketball at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England. In eight games Anderson totaled a tournament leading 200 points (25 per game), 88 rebounds and 64 assists.

Winners of the Ontario Sport Awards will be announced and recognized at a gala in Toronto on April 18.
