Chamber announces nominees for annual awards

Roll out the red carpet, dress in your grandest bib and tucker and help celebrate the fabulous individuals, businesses, organizations and youth that make Centre Wellington such a grand place to live, work and play. This year’s Awards of Excellence theme is “Centre Wellington Celebrates in Grand Style!”  The dress code is business attire or whatever “grand” means to you.

The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce has announced the return of OLG as title sponsor. “Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Pearl sponsors demonstrate strong acceptance of this event by the business community,” chamber officials state.  

The gala will be held on May 16 at the Fergus Grand Theatre on St. Andrew Street West in Fergus.

There will be a reception area in front of the theatre to create a truly grand experience. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available from 6:30 to 8pm when the awards program will begin.

 The purpose of the event is to recognize businesses, groups and individuals who contribute to making Centre Wellington a great place to live, work and play. Dozens of nominations were submitted by a large number of people.

This year’s nominees include: Aboriginal Heritage Festival, Anna Drimmie (Lucy’s Boutique), Barbara Lustgarten-Evoy, Bears Cheerleading, Bert’s Service Centre, Bruce & Joan Hawkins (Curl for a Cause), Centre Wellington Ball Hockey, Curves (Fergus), Elora Fergus Studio Tour, Elora Home Hardware, Fergus Educational Services, Fergus Horticultural Society, Groves Hospital Foundation, Jason Basaur, John Benham, Kitras Art Glass, May-Bridge Harrows, One Axe Pursuits, Oppose Belwood Wind Farm Association, Performance Studios, Professional Nails, RBC Royal Bank, Rectify Electric, Rienk & Roberta Vlietstra, Rotary Club of Fergus Elora, Sharpe Farm Supplies Ltd., Stephanie Toohill, Susan Harrop, The Bar Store, The Grand 92.9 FM, Tivoli Films, WR Designs – The Flower Co., Wrighthaven Homes Limited, Zehrs.
