On March 26, Wellington County OPP responded to several reports of thefts from vehicles overnight at residences in the Skyway Drive and Third Line area here.
No damage to the vehicles was reported, however a small amount of change and cigarettes was stolen.
Police continue to encourage home owners and vehicle owners to be vigilant in securing autos when not in use. Police continue to respond to calls for service involving overnight thefts from autos.
Following are a couple of valuable tips that may prevent residents from becoming a victim of crime:
– never leave vehicles unlocked while unattended;
– never leave keys in the vehicle;
– always park in a well-lit area;
– never leave valuable objects in plain view (remove them or secure them in the trunk); and
– protect vehicles from theft; always roll up windows.
The Wellington County OPP officials continue to remind all vehicle owners to “lock it or lose it.”
