A Mapleton man is recovering after experiencing serious injuries as a result of a farm accident.
On Oct. 12 at 3:28pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of an accident on Wellington Road 8 in Mapleton Township.
Firefighters from the Mapleton Fire Department and paramedics from Guelph-Wellington EMS also responded to the scene.
Investigation revealed the victim, a 38-year-old male from Mapleton, and another male were working inside of a grain buggy with an auger, scraping the corn off the interior walls into the auger.
Police say the victim slipped and his foot became trapped in the auger, severing it off just above the ankle.
The male was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. the Farm Safety Board and Ministry of Labour were notified of the accident.
