Childhood cancer survivor asks blood donors to help others keep fighting

A childhood cancer survivor is asking anyone who is able, to give the gift of life to others as her own 18th birthday wish.

Stephanie Simmons, of London, is a three-time brain tumour survivor and has created the Gold Ribbon Campaign to raise awareness for childhood cancers. Simmons and her sisters, Nancy and Angela, have partnered with Canadian Blood Services to raise awareness for both of these causes.

Realizing that blood donations kept her healthy enough to continue the treatment she needed to beat her own disease, Stephanie is hoping for one more gift.

“I’m asking everyone to please share the gift of life. Please donate blood to make sure that my friends that are still fighting have what they need to beat their cancer.”

To share in Stephanie’s gift, call 1-888-2DONATE and make an appointment to donate blood, then register your donation as part of the Gold Ribbon Campaign by going to www.blood.ca/joinpartnersforlife and entering her partner ID number GOLD013121 before filling out the form.,

“Together, we can help other kids reach their 18th birthday,” Simmons urges.
