Step backstage and experience what it’s like to put on a show on Sept. 30 from 1pm to 4pm at River Run Centre.
The public is invited to drop by for free behind the scenes demonstrations and hands-on activities in celebration of River Run’s 15th anniversary and as part of Guelph’s Culture Days weekend.
“Our staff and volunteers are always eager to share a bit of the magic behind the scenes,” said facility manager Danna Evans. “It’s a great opportunity to learn about the theatre’s moving lights, or find out how to create fog on stage or see the workings of the rigging system.”
Those who are keen to experience what it’s like to perform on stage are invited to bring along an instrument and join the band. There’s even a chance to try your hand at stage combat.
Demonstrations and hands-on activities are free and suitable for all age and include:
– instrument petting zoo with Guelph Symphony Orchestra
– costume fitting in the dressing rooms with RCMPI
– lighting and sound demonstrations and a visit to the technical booth
– a visit to the fly gallery to learn about rigging
– band and sing along with Sam Turton and Friends
– stage combat basics with Blackthorn Productions
– dance with Ishra and Invoketress Dance
