Memorial 3-pitch tourney designated community event

Councillors here support a request by Centre Wellington Minor Softball’s application for a special occasion permit for the Jeanne Dalton Memorial 3-Pitch Tournament at Highland Park Softball Diamonds on Sept. 28, 29 and 30.

The Jeanne Dalton Memorial Tournament is in memory of an incredible woman who devoted her life to family and softball.

The group felt “To honour the memory of one of our most avid volunteers, we will celebrate community, family, and of course softball, by hosting a tournament in Jeanne’s honour.”

Proceeds support youth softball in Centre Wellington.

The event itself is an adult co-ed 3-pitch tournament open to adults 19 year of age or older who wish to register a team – while space remains.

The permit through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission allows the  serving and selling of alcohol at the event.

The move recognizes the event as a community event of municipal significance.

Councillor Walt Visser said the event is certainly a worthwhile endeavour and should be recognized as such.

Centre Wellington Minor Softball Association has served the community for over 25 years as a not for profit group.
