Taking in the sights, sounds and tastes of the Aberfoyle Farmers Market

The Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market continues to be a big draw for local residents and local vendors.

Though nearby soccer games at the Aberfoyle community centre guarantee a certain number of customers, there are many people stopping by to check out, and purchase, local produce, foodstuffs and other local creations.

The shaded venue of the Optimist Recreation Centre offerred a cool respite for anyone out in the sun while providing a chance to sample local wares and listen to on-site music.

For vendors like Dan Price, of Rockwood, it’s the continuation of a craft he’s been working on for the past 20 years.

Price had an interest in fallen trees which might typically end up as scrap or in a fire pit.

For him, his work can begin with blown-down trees and a chainsaw as he works to transform the wood into unique bottle stoppers, pens, salad bowls, and salt and pepper shakers.

For Stephanie and Amy Pagnucco, being at the market is one means of spreading the word on the Saucy Mamas and  their wide selection of tomato and garlic sauces.

Amy said that while the business has only been in place for a few months, the idea has simmered for nearly a decade.

She’d been a cook for that long but the idea gelled while she was at business school.

Pagnucco added that she hoped the business will be able to potentially expand to other markets or festivals next year.
