New Rockwood school to cost over $6.2 million

The new public school here proposed by the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) will consist of 13 classrooms, have a capacity of 308 students and cost over $6.24 million to build.

As reported in The Advertiser last week, the board approved the proposal late last month as part of its revised capital plan for the implementation of full day kindergarten.

Previously the board had planned a $2.8-million “early learning centre” in Rockwood that would a play area and six classrooms for about 150 junior and senior kindergarten students.

The board also proposes a $300,000 renovation at Eramosa Public School to transform one existing classroom and part of the staff room into one full day kindergarten room.

Also planned is an $850,000 project at Rockwood Centennial to transform five existing classrooms into three full day kindergarten rooms and a seminar room.
