People are invited to join the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) on June 16, from 9:30 to 11:30am for its first well and septic social.
The free event, part of CVC’s countryside stewardship workshop series, is for rural landowners to learn more about the importance of properly maintaining their wells and septic systems to protect human health and the health of the rural countryside.
Don and Joanne Chambers, two of CVC’s countryside stewardship champions, will host the social at their home at 5969 9th Line in Erin. At the event participants will:
– observe a septic system pump-out and learn how to identify warning signs of a failing system;
– learn components of a properly maintained well and how they can protect drinking water quality;
– learn how to maintain wells and septic systems (and what not to do); and
– learn about current Ontario Building Code regulations and recommended system upgrades.
There will be time to ask experts questions, share stories with other landowners and enjoy the fresh air.
Bring a lawn chair and dress for the weather since this is an outdoor event that will take place rain or shine.
