The Wellington County Historical Society celebrating the 25th anniversary of Wellington County History with volume 25.
This year’s volume highlights family traditions in Wellington County and is available for pick up at their annual general meeting on June 4 at 7pm at Wellington County Museum and Archives.
In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the publication, over 100 invitations were mailed out to past and present authors, patrons and members of the publication committees, mostly in Ontario but a number to other provinces and one as far away as Australia.
Organizers are making a special effort to invite and thank those who have ‘nourished’ the journal through the years,” says Wellington Count Historical Society president Ron Hattle.
That night members can pick up copies of Volume 25, of Wellington County History, enjoy refreshments and chat with old friends.
The evening’s featured presentation “Valuing Our History – Where Do We Go From Here?” by Dr. Stephen Thorning will follow.
Some stories included in the upcoming volume are: “My Family and Funeral Traditions in Mapleton” by Jean Campbell; “The Tragedy of the Titanic and the Other Beattie Family in Fergus” by Al Koop and “Wellington’s Fancy Feather Family Tradition” by Greg Oakes.
