Some signs will sprout in Centre Wellington Township to help promote the third annual Crime Stoppers mulch sale after council in committee of the whole gave its approval on April 16.
Crime Stoppers chairman Rick Eller asked council in a letter if his group could be included in the list of community organizations that have permission to post signs to promote their community events. Council passed a sign bylaw and restricted promotional signs to local groups and their events.
Eller said in his letter the sale is on May 12 at the Sportsplex in Fergus.
“The mulch sale event is critical in raising funds to support the program throughout the year plus providing a material resource for residential gardeners,” he said.
Councillor Kirk McElwain asked if the group will be allowed eight days of sign use, and building inspector Bob Foster said that would be the case. Council unanimously agreed to give the group permission for the signs.
