Grand River Raceway’s 2012 season opener on May 2 was highlighted by a Lucky George’s 60th career win in the third annual Local Biz Night Race.
The sold-out dinner event saw more than 200 people from 32 local businesses paired with a horse in race seven.
Lucky George, in rein to Trevor Henry from Arthur, conquered the field to record his fifth win of the season.
The 11-year-old trotter was represented by five local businesses: Keating Construction, Shoetopia, Horizon Furniture, Loose Mooses and M&M Meat Shops.
Lucky George is owned by his trainer Paul Taylor of Clinton. The win pushes Lucky George’s career earnings to $393,000. Local Biz Night is a joint-effort between the raceway, the OLG Slots at Grand River Raceway and the Centre Wellington Chamber Of Commerce.
