The population of the Wellington County area went up by four on New Year’s Day as proud parents welcomed New Year’s babies into the world.
The Gingrich family of Wellington North welcomed their son, Clare at 6:25am, making him the first baby born in that municipality and also in Wellington County for 2012.
Clare was delivered by Dr. Hugh Perrin.
In Centre Wellington, Brinley Aldridge was the first baby born in that township when he entered the world at 5:35pm, to proud parents Jenny and Glen Aldridge, of Mount Forest.
Brinley was delivered by Dr. Dan Reilly and Dr. Patrick Otto at Groves Hospital. He is the family’s sixth child, all of whom are boys.
In honour of his status as the New Year’s baby at Groves, Brinley’s parents were greeted by Helen Marucci of the Centre Wellington Welcome Wagon and six totes of gifts from 78 local businesses.
Guelph General Hospital welcomed twin boys, with Sebastian first at 5:51 pm, and brother Leo 19 minutes later.
First-time parents Aimee and Steven Savard had the babies with the aid of surrogate Tarrah Vandenberg of Guelph and were involved in the special delivery.
