Eco-Energy Retrofit savings program for homes is back

With the passing of the recent federal budget, the Eco-Energy Retrofit – Homes program is back, including government grants for energy efficient upgrades.

The Elora Environment Centre has been a local licenced service provider for the past 10 years, providing concise, unbiased home energy advice by certified energy advisors.

Homeowners considering energy upgrades should act quickly as the program has a limited timeline, slated to end March 31.

“This still gives plenty of time to set up your energy audit and qualify,” said Elora Centre General Manager Kathy Maggs. “Even if it is temporary, it is still terrific News.”

She added, “The Elora Environment Centre will continue to assist local homeowners with their home energy efficiency goals with or without the grants, but agrees the financial help is beneficial to homeowners.”

An Eco-Energy evaluation identifies areas in homes where energy is being wasted and provides tangible solutions to save money. Homeowners who have already had an energy evaluation have realized, on average, a 27% savings on their annual energy costs, and they are enjoying improved home comfort and have contributed to a healthier environment.

The maximum grant is $5,000 and the program is open to new and previous program participants.
