FERGUS – When county OPP officers set up the voluntary tolls at the Zehrs Food Markets on Tower Street in Fergus on the May 7 weekend, they were optimistic residents of the area would give generously towards the Ontario Special Olympics.
The OPP and OPP Auxiliary members teamed up with the Zehrs Food Markets. Officers manned locations around the parking lot, looking for donations for the Ontario Special Olympics for 2011. The officers were astounded at the positive response and generosity of all who gave to this worthy cause.
After all monies were counted, they had collected $1,729. That amount will go towards the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Ontario Special Olympics. The main walk and run for this year in Wellington will be held on June 7.
OPP Constable Mark Cloes said the county OPP thanks everyone who gave so generously to help support this worthwhile cause.
