On Jan. 29 approximately 300 to 400 young amateur athletes will gather from across Ontario at the Track and Field Centre at York University in Toronto for the provincial indoor track meet offered by the Royal Canadian Legion.
The meet is open to male and female athletes, 17 years of age and under and 15 and under, at Dec. 31 in the year of competition.
The events offered to both male and female competitors are long Jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, pole vault, the 1,000 metre walk and running events at the following distances: 60 metres, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m and 3,000m.
The Legion’s provincial president Ed Pigeau (or his representative) will be joined by provincial track and field chairman Robert Tucker and other VIPs and Legion dignitaries at the official opening ceremonies at the complex on Jan. 29 at 9:15am.
