The Fergus Optimists Club is presenting two free workshops for local youths which are aimed at fostering strong self esteem.
On Jan. 29 from 9am to 2:30pm at J.D. Hogarth Public School in Fergus, the club will offer a workshop to local boys aged 7 to 13. The event is a RISE Up (raising individual self esteem) program and will focus on helping parents and children to better understand, create and maintain a strong sense of self esteem.
On Feb. 12 from 9am to 2:30pm at James McQueen Public School in Fergus, the Optimist Club presents a free workshop for community girls aged 7 to 13. This is also a RISE Up program offered at no cost.
Both workshops will cover the following topics: personal strengths, responsibility, accountability, healthy body image, empathy, establishing goals and the positive things in life.
There is no cost for the day-long events, which organizers are billing as filled with fun and activity. However, everyone is asked to bring snacks and a healthy, nut-free lunch. Parents are welcome to attend.
To register for either workshop call 519-780-7107 or email riseup.selfesteem@gmail.com.
