The Perth-Wellington Provincial Progressive Conservative Association will nominate its candidate here to carry the PC Party banner in the next provincial election on Nov. 20.
The meeting starts at 10:30am at Listowel District Secondary School (at 155 Maitland Avenue South).
Perth-Wellington PC Party President, Warren Howard stated: “With Tim Hudak and the PC Party, Ontario can lead again.”
He added: “We have two experienced candidates running for the nomination. Either will provide a strong alternative to John Wilkinson and the Liberal Party.”
Jeff Marshall, of West Perth, and Randy Pettapiece, of North Perth, will be contesting the nomination and both have strong credentials within the party.
Marshall was born in St. Marys and raised in the country. He attended South Perth Centennial School and St. Marys DCVI. Minor Sports and high school athletics gave him the chance to experience much of the riding in his youth.
Marshall joined the PC Party at age of 16, and has volunteered at the federal and provincial levels for over 20 years. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Perth-Wellington Provincial PC Association.
Following his graduation from the University of Western Ontario, Marshall worked in the agriculture industry for John Deere and Alfa Laval Agri. His provincial government experience includes working as the parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as well as the parliamentary secretary to the Solicitor General.
Following his work in government, Marshall spent several years at CAA South Central Ontario, working with municipal governments on issues of infrastructure and transportation.
He currently provides independent marketing analysis services.
He lives in Mitchell and he and wife, Rita, have a son and are expecting an addition to the family this November.
Marshall became Mitchell ward councillor for West Perth in 2008, and has served on the West Perth Police Services Board and water and wastewater committee. He has also become involved with Mitchell minor Sports and minor hockey. He sits on the friends committee” for Habitat for Humanity’s Mitchell build.
Pettapiece has been married to his wife, Jane, for 37 years. They have three sons and three daughters-in-law. They are the proud grandparents of four.
Pettapiece operates a decorating business in partnership with his wife. It has been in operation since 1993.
He lives just outside of Monkton, where he has resided since 1975.
He is currently completing his second term as a councillor for Elma Ward on North Perth municipal council. He is the past president of the Perth-Wellington Provincial Progressive Conservative Association. During the 2007 election, Pettapiece served as campaign manager for John Rutherford in Perth-Wellington. Pettapiece serves as a member of the Provincial PC policy advisory committee on Agriculture.
Pettapiece has been extensively involved in his community. He was chairman of the Atwood sewer servicing project – an $8.5-million municipal project that placed sewers in Atwood. He is a member of the recreation advisory committee and the economic development committee of North Perth, and the North Perth administration building rehabilitation project. He is a past member of the Monkton fire board.
He sits on the board of directors for the North Perth community hospice. He has been a member of the Monkton Lions Club for 23 years, where he has held various club executive positions.
He has been a member of the District A-15 cabinet for two years.
