The fire department responded to just nine calls in July, but personnel was kept busy throughout the month with other jobs.
Fire Chief Rick Richardson said in a recent report to council that in addition to the four medical calls, two fires and three vehicle responses, firefighters participated in seven training sessions and events in July.
Sixteen members of the department attended the fireworks display on July 1, while 32 attended the mutual aid meeting hosted in?Drayton on July 6.
Eleven attended the Ant Hill?Classic motorcycle race on July 11; 18 Moorefield members attended extrication training on July 13; 20 from Drayton went to an incident command session on July 13; 16 personnel attended a medical practice session; and 28 attended the truck rodeo on July 27.
In addition to those obligations, firefighters also organized the fireworks, water ball and chicken barbecue on?Canada Day, met with the school board about fire safety plans and received new digital-analog portable radios.
August was a bit busier in terms of calls, with 13 total, including eight medical, two accidents, two false alarms and one fire.
