Candidates coming forward for fall election

Pus­linch Township now has two individuals who have filed papers to run for mayor.

Dennis Lever filed his pap­ers earlier this year and current councillor Dick Visser filed his just this week.

Wayne Stokley has also filed papers in Puslinch, although he will be seeking a seat as one of four township councillors.

Nobody has filed papers in?Erin, while in Mapleton, Neil Driscoll and Dan McIntyre plan to run for a council seat.

Incumbent Gord Tosh has filed in Guelph-Eramosa to run for county councillor in Ward 8, but the municipality has received no papers for seats on township council.

In Centre Wellington, incumbent Walt Visser and Vinnie Green have filed to contest Ward 5, Mike Wisniewski and Mary Lloyd are running in Ward 6 for council, incumbent Joanne Ross-Zuj is seeking another term as mayor and incumbent Jean Innes has filed to run for county councillor in Ward 5, the ward north of the Grand River in Centre Wellington.

In Wellington North, Lisa Hern recently announced her intent to run against Janice Lewis for Ward 3, a southern ward which encompasses part of Arthur village. Meanwhile, incumbent Mike Broomhead and current councillor Ross Chaulk are running for mayor.

In Minto, incumbent Mark MacKenzie has filed for county councillor in?Ward 1 and no one has filed for town council.

The municipal election will be held on Oct. 25. Nomi­nations may be filed up until Sept. 10 at 2pm.
