“It appears we’re off to another good, strong start,” Chief Building Official Jim Baker told council here last week.
Baker said he wasn’t sure very early in 2010 what the year would bring, but since then there has been an increase in local building activity.
In January, the township issued five building permits for projects valued at $935,000 and which generated $3,210 in fees.
Last January, those figures were seven, $866,000 and $5,171 respectively.
Baker noted the addition at the Drayton?Festival Theatre is included in last month’s permit and estimated construction value ($500,000) totals, but the township waived its fees for the theatre project.
