A $10,000 grant from Hydro One should help the Puslinch Optimist Club reach its fundraising goal for the township’s new multi-use recreational facility.
The township received word last month the project would receive funding through Hydro One’s Powerplay Grant Program. On Feb. 3 councillor Don?McKay asked if the $10,000 would be put towards the township or Optimist portion of costs for the new recreation building.
Clerk Brenda Law replied the money would be part of the Optimist Club’s fundraising efforts.
The club and township have agreed to split the township’s overall cost of about $716,328; with the federal and provincial governments each contributing that amount as well, for a total cost of about $2.15-million.
Late last year, Optimist Club president Ken Williams said the Hydro One grant would be put towards an ice resurfacer for the facility’s rink.
