The Norgan theatre has moved to morning matinees for its G-rated daytime shows.
Recreation services manger Matt Lubbers reported at the Feb. 6 Minto council meeting that recent experiments with 11am Saturday matinees have drawn higher attendance than traditional afternoon shows.
“Surprisingly, 11 o’clock seems to be a good time,” Lubbers commented.
The earlier show times also make it easier to schedule theatre rentals in the afternoons.
“So we don’t have to pick either/or now,” Lubbers explained.
Lubbers is also investigating the possibility of showing live sporting events at the theatre at the suggestion of members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
