The Puslinch Township Fire Department and the Firefighters’ Association of Ontario have conveyed their appreciation to Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott for his work on behalf of all Ontario firefighters.
They presented Arnott with two plaques at the Puslinch appreciation night in Aberfoyle on Nov. 27.
“Without you, many of our causes would have fallen by the wayside,” wrote Darren Storey of the Firefighters’ Association in an email to Arnott.
The Firefighters’ Association plaque was presented to MPP Arnott “in recognition of continued support for all Firefighters in the Province of Ontario.”
The second plaque certifies that Arnott is duly acknowledged as an honourary member of the association.
Since he was first elected in 1990, Arnott has worked on many priorities important to firefighters:
– pushing for presumptive legislation to extend workers’ compensation to volunteer firefighters;
– standing up for the right of double-hatter firefighters to work full time in the field and still volunteer in their home communities;
– introducing legislation to provide the highest possible level of workers’ compensation coverage; and
– passing legislation to allow firefighters to use flashing green lights in their personal vehicles.
