When the new police detachment moves from Fergus to the grounds of the Wellington County Museum, it will receive a new name.
County Warden Joanne Ross-Zuj presented the Oct. 29 Police Services Board recommendations on Oct. 29, and noted the change. Fergus has had the OPP detachment since amalgamation, so it has been named for Fergus.
With the move, the board recommended the name by changed to the Centre Wellington detachment when the building opens.
That might take some time. The county has applied for a grant for the building, and is waiting for a response.
