Perth Wellington MP Gary Schellenberger was re-elected unanimously as chairman of the standing committee on Canadian heritage for the second session of the 40th parliament of Canada.
Schellenberger has been chairman of the committee since May 2006.
“I feel very privileged to be selected by and work with such respected colleagues from all political parties,” he said. “As the Member of Parliament for such a culturally rich riding as Perth-Wellington, I relish the opportunity to represent my constituents on a matter that we both care so deeply about.”
The committee will embark on a study of new media as well as a review of the Italian-Canadian Recognition and Restitution Act.
