North Wellington Township could well benefit from recent investments in the Saugeen Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC).
The Saugeen CFDC includes Minto and Wellington North in its coverage area.
On June 12, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller, on behalf of Minister of Industry Tony Clement, announced cash for the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation, one of 61 CFDCs in Ontario.
The federal government is providing $300,000, through Industry Canada’s Community Futures Program.
The funding will allow the Saugeen CFDC to continue to offer business services, access to capital for small and medium-sized businesses, and support community development projects for another year. The Saugeen CFDC serves a region that includes municipalities of Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, South Bruce, Minto, Wellington North, Southgate, Grey Highlands, Chatsworth, and West Grey.
“The government of Canada recognizes that Community Futures Development Corporations are key players in stimulating new and expanded business opportunities to foster self-reliant communities. Saugeen Economic Development Corporation has certainly proven in the past that the work they do is worth our support,” said Miller.
“We are proud of the role we play in helping to ensure the economic prosperity of communities in our service area and appreciate the ongoing support of the Government of Canada,” said Saugeen EDC chairman Edythe Dixon.
