East Wellington Community Services has received a grant from the Communities In Action Fund (CIAF) which aims to help bring about physical activity and community sport culture by helping local and provincial not-for-profit organizations provide and enhance opportunities for physical activity through community sport and recreation.
The group working toward a more collaborative interaction to meet community needs with respect to sport and recreation opportunities in East Wellington. With childhood obesity rates on the rise, the target audience is children and youth. Through upstream investments and innovative community programming we hope to motivate children and youth to get active, increase awareness and participation in local physical activity opportunities and help create a culture of recreation and sport participation.
Increased communication and collaboration within our local sport and physical activity sector will strengthen community delivery systems; reducing program duplication, making full use of resources and build capacity among local sport and physical activity groups. Ultimately the group are looking to meet our children and youths physical activity needs by providing the support and services they need to reach their full potential.

Erin Location: Senior Room @ Centre 2000 on Wednesday June 17th from 7-9pm (14 Boland Drive, just off Dundas Street)
OR
Rockwood Location: Rockwood Library on Thursday June 18th from 7-9pm (85 Christie Road in the Rockmosa Park Complex)
Project Goals:
-Increase participation in sport and physical activity at the community level
-Foster and sustain community development
Project Objectives:
-Collaborate with local community sport and recreation groups to foster community conversations about how to best meet community needs with respect to physical activity
-Increase awareness of all sport and recreation opportunities for children and youth across the community
-Enhance opportunities for children and youth to participate in daily physical activity
