In a collaborative venture, the Guelph Ecumenical Guild of Ignatian Spiritual Direction and Loyola House sponsors a new venture – the Ignatian School of Spirituality.
The school is ecumenical in nature and will offer an introduction Ignatian spirituality, as well as make the Ignatian exercises available to anyone, anytime, fitting right in to people’s daily life. The spiritual exercises will thus be accessible to people who cannot set aside a lengthy block of time to develop a closer relationship with God.
The spiritual directors who will serve as guides come from many denominations, and will be available to guide people through the exercises at their convenience.
As foretaste, a six-session introduction to Ignatian forms of prayer and meditation will be offered in the fall of 2009.
To find out more about the offer, there is an open house on June 14 from 2 to 4pm at Loyola House, on highway 6 North, just past the Marymount Cemetery.
More and more people are expressing an increasing interest in prayer and quiet, meditation and community. Anyone looking to develop a deeper prayer life and interested in exploring types of prayer based on Ignatian spirituality can visit, browse around, feel free to ask questions and see what the Ignatian School of Spirituality has to offer.
The event is also an opportunity for all to visit the retreat centre, to walk the grounds, and to see why Loyola House is renowned throughout the world for the retreats it offers, and for the peace it provides to visitors from around the world.
There will be displays about the school offering, about Ignatian spirituality, as well as about Ignatius himself; there will also be guided tours, a short presentation, and an opportunity to visit with others.
