A show by young local artists opens June 2, at the Harriston-Minto Heritage Gallery on the upper floor of the Harriston Public Library.
The opening night reception is from 7 to 9 pm and is open to the public.
Art Crop 2009 runs to June 13. This is the third consecutive art show from Norwell district Secondary School.
The art is from the 2009 school year and showcases the work of Norwell District Secondary School students from all of the school’s visual arts programs, grades 9 through 12. The grade 12 visual art graduating class group show, Symphonic Combustion is a highlight of the exhibition. Art Crop 2009 features student work in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, painting, and mixed media. Works are in pencil, pen and ink, oil and chalk pastel, pencil crayon, acrylic, and watercolour paint, lino block, clay and papier mache.
Stylistically, the works range from realism to abstraction.
Family, friends, and the community at large are invited. Gallery hours are: Tuesdays 7 to 9pm, Thursdays and Fridays 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, and Saturdays 11am to 3pm.
