A revised development charges bylaw should be at council by the middle of next month.
On April 20, Wellington North Mayor Mike Broomhead said a public meeting was held on April 16 and he hopes to have a report to council by the April 27 meeting, with further comments from council and staff.
He said if they wanted further comment, they could talk to him personally.
“I’m going to put together a report for our next council meeting,” said Broomhead. “I think the meeting … considering the type of meeting it was … went extremely well.”
He said council learned a few things, but there are still a few items on which he hopes to get some more information.
Once the report is before council, “then we’ll have an open discussion,” the mayor said. Currently, he believes there are still items which need either clarification or verification.
Broomhead also said he gave a commitment to the Wellington Federation of Agriculture that the organization would be notified when council has its discussion to provide them a chance to sit in on the meeting.
Broomhead said by the next council meeting there will be a good idea how all of council feels on the issue.
However, any changes must still be passed by a bylaw, and at this point, that cannot happen until May.
